Tuna Helper - Proven Process for Tuning SQL

Many DBAs and Developers are faced with tuning poorly performing SQL statements.  However, many tuning projects fail because the process being used is inefficient. This presentation will walk through a process Confio Software uses with great success and will include topics such as: SQL diagramming, wait time data, indexing strategies, column selectivity and several more that will help the you succeed on future tuning projects.

Janis Griffin has over 20 years of DBA experience including design, development and implementation of many critical database applications. Before coming to Confio, Janis held DBA positions primarily in the Telecom Industry (15 yrs), working with both real-time network routing databases and OLTP business to business applications.
Janis was also a Principal Architect and Senior Manager, mentoring other DBAs on best practices in database performance tuning. She was responsible for managing all aspects of the Voice Network databases including short and long-term technical planning and strategic alliances. As a highly successful liaison between management and technical staff, Janis has proven to be an effective collaborator implementing cutting-edge database solutions.
